Happy 2012!! (pt 1)
Eating, eating, eating. Empanadas; hot dogs; lomo; some meat stuff in a yellow sauce of mustard, tuna and mayonnaise; proscuitto and melon; sandwiches; carrot salad; potato salad…that’s how we feasted for 3 days.
Fiore was kind enough to host Mario, Caro, Nico D, Nico S, Sergio F and I at her house in Pacheco, about 30 minutes north of Buenos Aires (or closer, if you drive the way Nico S drives).
She has a very nice house down a little dirt/gravel road a few streets off the autopista. The area is very suburban, with kids riding skateboards down the street, tricycles, families taking walks. The houses all have big gates, pools, and are set back off the road. When we pulled up she was waiting outside to open the gate with her little cocker spaniel, Chiquito.
They recently sold half of the property off, made some improvements to the house, and built a beautiful new pool just off the back patio. We could not have asked for better weather to enjoy the huge backyard, the pool, and just walking around in a bathing suit in general.
We did have a slight problem on our hands though. Although we had plenty of food and booze, the first night, the water tank ran out and the refill never kicked in. This proved to be a good challenege for the boys, who climbed on the roof, into the tank to try to fix it all up - but alas, we never could.
to be continued…
