Chan Chan - First Peruvian food!

Brett meets very interesting people on her bike tours. This weekend she met someone who worked for Time Out Argentina (oh my god, someone please give me that job!). She told Brett that the best restaurant in Buenos Aires happened to be right next to our apartment. So we put aside the Mexico project we have been working on for our final class on Thursday, and we went on over there.

It is a Peruvian Restaurant called Chan Chan. It’s pretty unassuming from the outside, but very interesting on the inside. Mint green walls with red accents, saints and nature scenes - and a huge mosaic on the wall incorporating all said colors. The service was sub-standard, but maybe just because it was a long weekend and I was tired. The food was very interesting, and we were all happy to have fish for a change!

• I had ají de gallina - in the description as the perfect example of a Quechua Spanish mix. It was rice with a puré of ají or cream, with chicken and potatoes. Sorta like a mild yellow curry. 
• Brett had mera frita con arroz y frijoles - fried white fish tasting very similar to calamari, with some beans and rice on the side.
• Irving had ceviche mixto - raw calamari, shrimp with lemon and onions. Some potatoes on the side.

Enjoyed my first forray into Peruvian food. Excited to try it again!
