Diplo
Our friend, Willie was kind enough to throw together a group of people to go see Diplo on the 30th of November. Brett and I made roadies in leftover containers and headed to La Puerta Roja, where we finally go to try our first chili bomb (I don’t know what it was, so don’t ask me! Some spicy shot dropped into redbull) Then we all went over to Samsung Studio, just off of Av. de Mayo. It was a really nice, intimate venue, so we were able to get right on the dance floor and get up and personal with Diplo.
Diplo, for those of you who do not know, is a DJ and producer originally from Mississippi, but now based in Philly. He has worked with such artists as M.I.A., Santigold, and he also works with Switch in the group Major Lazer. He also spent time in Brazilian favelas, where he grew really interested in the scene there. Although highly successful, he still shows a lot of interest in different music scenes around the globe.
All these influences were very apparent in his music, as he switched easily from drum and bass, to dubstep, to cumbia, to dance-hall. It was a rocking time - oh yeah, and that’s Brett, Estefanía and I with him in a picture at the end :)
