Trip to Uruguay (pt.2 - Colonia)
Surrounding the lighthouse are some ruins from an old convent. After the lighthouse, we continued to walk the streets. We found one museum that had the full skeleton of a blue whale, passed many antique shops, gift shops, and other tourist traps. This led us to the boardwalk, where we could watch children swimming, people fishing and sailing on the other side of the Río de la Plata.
It was very hot out, so we decided it was perfect time for a little descansa, and chose a nice seaside restaurant with a hot waiter (girlsssss vacay!!!). We ended up having a few beers and some delicious calamari and other snacks. After that, we didn’t really have any ganas, or desire to do much more. So instead of paying the $50URU pesos (or 2.50USD) to see the 8 small museums, we decided to see the one church, the ruins of the old house, and to plop it and have another beer.
We had an hour and a half before our 16.00 bus was leaving, but we decided to see if we could change the ticket. When asking, the woman looked at us strangely and said, but it is 15:55; it leaves in 5 minutes? Apparently Uruguay is an hour ahead of Argentina, even though it is only an hour away! So we scrambled on the bus, and I took a much needed nap!!! They say the countryside is very beautiful though…
